Timing

Timing is the way in which most motor sporting competitions are decided, and as such the principles of timing are fundamental to the sport.

The timing of a motor sport event depends upon someone who is suitably trained operating a piece of equipment relevant to the event. This is where VOLUNTEERS IN MOTORSPORT plays an important role for that person could well be YOU.

Each type of event is timed in a slightly different way, though most adopt the principle of operating in real time – i.e. time of day. So whether you are interested in rallies, racing, speed events (sprints and hill climbs), cross-country events, or karting all need timekeepers. You do not have to be at an event every weekend; many people only participate in one or two events per month, dependant upon their availability.
